The object of the CIO are for the public benefit:-- the advancement of amateur sport by promoting the game of chess for the benefit of those living in Pimlico and in London at large;- the provision of facilities and opportunities for learning, teaching and playing chess for the benefit of those living or working in Pimlico or in London at large with the object of improving conditions of life.
