How our data is sourced and how the finder and comparison tools work.
All charity information on Dandelign — names, categories, financials, and addresses — is sourced from the UK Charity Commission Register, published as open data under the Open Government Licence. In addition, charities can update and rectify their own data directly on the platform.
Yes. For now, every charity on Dandelign comes from the UK Charity Commission Register, so listings are limited to UK-registered charities — Dandelign doesn't include charities registered in other countries. Many UK-registered charities do fund work internationally, which you can filter for using the country options in search and the finder. (But we are currently expanding to other European countries.)
Every charity listed on Dandelign is a currently registered charity in the official UK Charity Commission Register — the same register UK regulators use. Dandelign doesn't perform additional manual vetting beyond this.
Yes — use the "Contact us" link in the footer, or email contact@dandelign.org, to flag anything that looks wrong. Since the underlying data comes from the Charity Commission Register, corrections to official filings need to go through the Commission directly, but we can investigate and fix how the data is displayed on the Site.
It's the share of a charity's total expenditure spent directly on its charitable activities, as opposed to fundraising, governance, and other support costs. A higher percentage generally means more of each pound spent goes toward the charity's actual mission rather than overhead.
Yes. Dandelign is free for donors/users to search, compare, and shortlist UK charities. There are no account fees or subscription costs for using the finder, the comparison tool, or saved charities.
No. Charities aren't charged to appear on Dandelign, and they don't need to sign up or opt in — the charity data is either integrated automatically from the UK Charity Commission Register's public data or updated by charities themselves, all free of charge.
No. Dandelign doesn't require registration, a password, or an account. Saved charities are stored in a cookie on your device instead, so you can build a shortlist without signing up.
Tap "save" on any charity to add it to your shortlist. Dandelign stores the charity's reference number in a cookie on your device — not in an account — so your list stays private to your browser.
Select up to five charities to compare side-by-side: founding year, size, total income and expenditure, the percentage of spending that goes directly to charitable projects, staff and volunteer numbers, and the countries where each one operates.
The finder asks a short series of questions — an ongoing cause or a current crisis, which cause areas or countries matter to you, how large or local you want the charity to be, and how much of its spending should go directly to projects — then turns your answers into a filtered results list. It's Dandelign's innovative tool to best match an organisation to your interests and values.
No. Dandelign doesn't require an account and collects no names, emails, or passwords. It uses privacy-first, cookieless analytics and sets only one cookie — for saved charities — and only with your consent. See the Privacy Policy for details.
